Dear God,
You made me for Lent. You knew my mind and soul would fill up with sin. You knew I would need a washing before you could put a clean heart within me. Lent is the perfect time for cleansing. But a clean heart does not give me the right to be a righteous, arrogant Christian. Which, of course, leads me right back to a sinful fill up.
O God, how I long to carry you deep within me. I want to say words that lift up not tear down. I want to uphold goodness and mercy not fill the world with more meanness and arrogance. I want to offer mercy not judgement. I want to give love not hate.
Let Lent
be my call,
Compassion God,
a call
to rightful living,
caring ways
and a
tender heart.
I simply
cannot be that
without you.
Fill me
with more
of you
and less
of me,
I pray.
Love, Andrea
