Dear God,

Today there were so many in the church choir that I had to sit in the second row in the middle of the tenors. As we stood to sing the hymns I realized the richness of their melodic sound. I loved singing with them acknowledging that our sound together was better than our sound alone.

When I have been tempted to go life alone or to sing my own story, it has simply been one dimensional. When I allowed myself to bend, to join in, to accompany others, my life's story has been a richer, more harmonic life. When I tried to live life on my own terms, it has often been a rocky road, one without benefit. But when I permitted you in and others around me, life opened up bringing with it so much beauty, harmony, and joy.

As I listen more to you, as I walk each day in your light, and as I step in tune with others on the same road, life explodes with adventure, excitement, and possibility.

O God,
clear my mind,
humble me
so that
I may
join you
in the
true pilgrimage
of life.
Set me
in the
tenor section
more often,
I pray.
