Dear God,
Today our choir sang "Come to the Water" in the worship service. What a beautiful picture of serenity.
While we sang, images of living water came to me. I thought of living water that really quenches thirst, your living water. Living water that finds the deepest, driest parts of the soul and then streams to those places reviving them, making them alive.
I have drunk water when I was thirsty. While it took away my thirst, it never had the same power as living water that renews and refreshes. I know the difference.
Every time I think of water, read about it, sing about it, or talk about it, I think of the living water you provide. I reflect upon the restorative quality of your sacred waters. I remember times when I was so thirsty I was certain I would dry up before I found water that would put life back into my weary bones. But then you stopped by, paused, lifted your pail, and poured life-giving water into me. Oh my God, nothing was better!
Remind me
of the
incalculable value
of living water.
Teach me daily
to carry
my cup
with me,
purposely and intentionally
journeying to
your well.
Inspire me
to give thanks
and to remember
to carry
a second cup
for others.
Love, Andrea
