Dear God,

As I walked through the hallowed halls of the retreat center, I thought of your amazing goodness, your unconditional love, and your unimaginable grace.  Through this sacred site, you have sought to create sanctuary for your children.  By setting apart dedicated land and a facility focused on the gentle breeze of your spirit, you have lifted your people.  You have formed spiritual eyes in which to see you and the glories of faith.  You have made a people warmed by your love to walk this earth, blessings others in your name.

As I prepared the space where I would lead the retreat, I thought about those who had come before me, leaving behind a part of their own beautiful spirit.  I thought of love that wants to spread its beauty to others.  I thought of prayer, the countless millions of prayers offered here for the cosmos and all her inhabitants.  I felt humbled not only to be here but also to know that the catholic sisters of St. Joseph had already prayed for me as the leader this weekend.  Although weary I felt buoyed up by faith.

Generous God,
Giver of All Good Things,
like children
who immerse themselves
in play,
I bask
in the wonder
of it all.
As I feel
so blessed,
please make me
a blessing
to others,
I pray.
