Dear God,
Thank you for the joy a family can experience when together after a time apart. Thank you for happiness that spreads from person to person. Thank you for love that grows when daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren are reunited with grandparents even after a few short weeks.
More and more I realize the impact faith has on all things. I recognize the power of love to overcome. Whenever pain comes to a family, whatever kind it is, you rise in us to help us, to heal us, and to reunite us with a new thread, the kind that holds forever.
I have seen you work in our larger family. You have done your miracle work on us. When we were broken, you looked in on us. You guided us beyond our own wills and ways. You made a bridge, built with your own hands, and you pointed us to it. You told us to let go, to surrender to you, and to allow you to do your healing work on us and in us. You led us across the expanse. You provided a salve, an oil of gladness and slowly, cautiously, we made our way back as new people because your power was greater than our own.
As I consider our whole family, great grandparents, grandparents, parents, and children, I can acknowledge your healing work. You have touched every one of us. You have healed our wounds. You have remade us. You have given us a deep well of hope. You have poured out your compassionate grace and we allowed it to penetrate the pores of our beings. You have inspired us and we are most grateful!
Good and Loving God,
thank you
for the visit
with our family.
Thank you
for bringing them
to us
for a
wonderful time together.
Thank you
for the
kind of joy
that wells up
and spills over.
Love, Andrea
