Dear God,

Before I closed up the house for the winter, I dug up 20 raspberry bushes and transplanted them by the hill overlooking the river.  I had no idea there were that many.  There were a couple of times my shovel hit a large root and split it but I dug them up nevertheless, carried them to the other side of the yard, dug a hole, placed them in the soil, and then patted the ground.  I looked at them and then left.  I wonder how well they will do over the long, cold, quiet days.

Sometimes you ask us to transplant beliefs, thoughts, and ways of doing things.  You ask us to imagine new life in old parts.  You alone know how negativity can keep us bound and paralyzed.  You ask us to exhibit courage by trusting you to lead us to the promised land.  Usually we do not know where that will take us in the future but you ask us to trust you and wait anyway.

Thank you,
Gracious God,
for opportunities
to think
new life.
Thank you
for teaching us
the way
to rid ourselves
of the old
making way
for the new.
Thank you
for being
our constant companion.

Love, Andrea
