Dear God,
After the grandchildren went home after a wonderful camping experience in our backyard, I remained in the tent most of the day. Yes, it was cold and breezy but I unzipped the windows and door so I could see out. I watched the dappled light through the tree limbs and gazed at the yellow gold leaves as they danced in the wind. I stayed in my sleeping bag with covers around me. I read a novel. I watched a movie. I reveled in the beauty of the Autumn day.
Learning to stay in the present moment enjoying the gift before us is one of life's most difficult lessons. Often we get ahead of ourselves. If we are in the midst of some kind of chaos, we imagine how bad it may get and we become more and more afraid. If we are in the midst of darkest, we can only see blackness ahead. If we are confused, we can only believe the answers will never come. If, however, we factor in faith, then we choose to stay in the moment accepting the help and love and grace you offer. We do not attempt to live in tomorrow or the next day or the next week, month, or year because we will miss our today with you.
Thank you
for today's decision
to remain
with you.
Thank you
for the light,
the leaves,
the cold,
and the day.
Teach me,
I pray,
to remain
in the present
so I
never miss
you.
Love, Andrea
