Dear God,
I sat in the small exercise room watching a half dozen people work at getting their life back following heart surgery. They walked the treadmill, rode the stationary bike, and did the exercise that worked their arms. I sat there and watched my husband do the same thing.
Every day you offer us new life, new from yesterday, new after surgery, new after a conflict, new after a breakup, new in the morning, new when we discover grace, or new after a particularly difficult situation. Always you are there offering...new life. When we complain about having to change, we forget what life would be like if we had to stay the same and never change. Perhaps for a hand full of people who started out right that would be okay but I doubt it.
I believe transformation, new life, may be your greatest gift. When we recognize how good change can be and we accept your offer, you infuse us with a kind of newness that goes deep, real deep. Suddenly it feels as if we are breathing new air and have clean, pure blood moving in our veins. We feel a kind of reconstruction. Only then can we know the loving power of change.
Thank you
for the
life lesson
this morning
in the
hospital basement.
You can appear
anywhere at
any time.
Thank you.
Love, Andrea
