Dear God,
This morning you brought a simple, yet profound word to me. Shed. As I shared the word with my colleagues, my spiritual friends, we all heard the word for our lives. We felt the challenge. We reflected upon those things that are weighing us down. We asked ourselves a question. What do we need to shed in order to move forward in our lives?
During the discovery process we found painful experiences that put heavy weights on us. We could see how we inadvertently worked to insulate ourselves by putting our souls at risk. By adding more weights instead of dealing with them and lightening the load, we focused on dragging the weight around only to find more ways to add on rather than take off.
This morning's gift was brilliant!
Gracious God,
you teach us
valuable lessons
when we pause
long enough
to tarry
with you.
You reveal
to us
the ways
we harm ourselves
by shoving faith aside
in order
to continue
unhealthy habits.
When we recognize
your spirit
at work,
we fall
to our knees
in praise
and thanksgiving.
Love, Andrea
