Dear God,

How good, how sweet, how meaningful it was to worship today on this Ash Wednesday, one of the most profound for those who intentionally pilgrim during Lent.  Sitting in the second row we immersed ourselves in the many acts of worship.  We heard once again what it means to be Christian during the Lenten season.

Every year it is challenging to make a solitary journey to the cross through faith.  As I remember with fondness our journey to Israel, the walk through the old city of Jerusalem, and finally to the Church of the Sepulchre, you brought to mind my need to draw close, to release my bondage to anything that separates me from you, and to walk anew through faith.  I recall the pondering, the movement, and the joy of walking in your steps.

As I step more deeply into Lent, I pray for my own soul that I will step every day nearer to the cross, to you, and to every brother and sister on the planet.

Draw me nearer,
nearer, nearer
Precious Lord.
Rid me
of obstacles
I deliberately put
in place
to keep you
away from you.
Refresh my mind
and spirit
with your
Holy Spirit,
I pray.

Love, Andrea
