Dear God,
How do you warm our hearts toward people we do not even know? How do you make us care, wanting to give encouragement, comfort, and affirmation?
I was given two long rows of students applying for admission to the bar in our state. Having graduated from law school they want to practice law but first have to pass the Bar. For several hours both days they wrote essays and answered multiple choice questions. They were nervous, anxious, and fearful when they arrived. As I looked into the eyes of these men and women as I passed out papers, I smiled, teased, encouraged, and comforted them where I could. During the last portion of the exam, I prayed for them once again and felt my heart so warm toward them. I wanted them to achieve their goals, to pass the exam, and to build a future serving the people in our state. I wanted to celebrate with them. I realized I really cared.
I have come to the conclusion that you will us to love one another. You want us to care for each other. You want us to reach out, to make life better, whatever the situation may be. You want us to give something of ourselves to those around us. You wanted me to love my little flock and so I did.
Thank you
for the privilege
of caring
for strangers
for two days.
Thank you
for growing
my heart
and allowing me
to care
for them
like a mother.
Thank you
for their lives.
Bless them,
I pray,
dear God.
Love always, Andrea
