Dear God,

Sometimes we need a gesture of love.  We need a hands-on experience of affirmation that tells us we are valuable to someone.  Mine came on the driveway of our home.

My husband was in a rush to get to his Men's Group at church.  He started the car and a very familiar song came blaring on the radio.  One of my favorites from my high school days, I asked him to put the car in park and get out of the car for just a second.  He looked at me as I pleaded with him to hurry. When he opened the car door, I asked him to dance with me.  I scooted into his arms as he took my hand and danced me around the grass.  When he stopped for a moment because a car was going by the house, I told him it didn't matter if anyone thought we were crazy.  He danced with me until the end of the song and then he jumped into the car and raced off.  "Don't miss an opportunity when it comes your way."  I shouted to him.

I was grateful for my husband's generous gift.  Yes, it was only about a minute and a half but it was a minute and a half and I am still talking about it.  Little gifts can be great gifts when given spontaneously.

Thank you
for my husband,
dear Lord.
Thank you
for his willingness
to give me
a twirl.
Thank you
for joy
that comes
when two people
come together
in a
simple act
of love.

Always, Andrea
