Dear God,
How do we maintain a steady spiritual sense, O Lord, if we do not begin with you early in the morning and conclude our day with you at night? When we haphazardly throw up prayers without any real connection to eternity's hope, how can we expect to touch holy things and know that is what is happening?
When we pray first thing, we open ourselves to a vast network of angels, saints, and sacred mystery. When we listen, really listen, we can begin to hear the sounds of heaven. When we bow down, humbling ourselves to the Holy of Holies, we clear ourselves of needless debris and roadblocks. We prepare ourselves to meet our maker. When we step on holy ground, we know that we know that we know you are uniquely with us.
As we wrap up our day with you, we end where we began at your side. You and we know the joys and celebrations of the day and we know the failings and shortcomings together. We have the privilege of touching hands and hearts and it is only then grace puts us to bed.
Holy God,
Maker of All That Is,
thank you
for the joy
of being known
by you.
Thank you
for kindnesses
beyond the kind
of care
we know
on earth.
Thank you
for early beginnings
and late night endings.
You are a most wondrous God!
Love always, Andrea
