Dear God,
An overhaul, my friend and I are doing an overhaul of a 1940's house she recently bought. We walked through and determined what needed to be done, tearing out three closets, rolling up carpet and pad in one room, taking up the carpet pad staples and wood strips in three rooms, removing all hardware from the walls, doors, and windows, ripping out the old vinyl tub and shower enclosure pulling up linoleum in the bathroom, and sweeping up. A dirty, hard job but we went right to work accomplishing everything.
On the way home I realized the hard work you must have to do on human beings. You do the work of renovation every day for human souls need a lot of work. Sometimes we need a complete overhaul like the old house. Although it is pain-staking work, it is vital to our well being and the world around us. When we are broken down and in disrepair, we are not very effective in our relationships, our work, or our service. However, once renovated and cleaned up, we become beautiful, useful, and faithful. With new lives we can shine for you.
Holy God,
Worker of Human Souls,
thank you
for your
generous kindness.
Thank you
for your work
on us.
Thank you
for signs
of faith
at work
right in
our midst.
Love, Andrea
