Dear God,

Your will be done.  Surely there are no sweeter words to your ears than these.  Your will be done, O Lord, as it is in heaven.

So often we want our own way.  We envision our lives a particular way.  We plan our lives for the future without considering what you may want for us.  When we come up short, we blame you for not taking care of us.  We complain, moan, and groan about life in general.  We forget our plans did not include you.

On the other hand, when we want your will above all else, we kneel before you.  We ask for your guidance.  We listen for your voice, your direction.  When the prompt comes, we act on it trusting you to lead us into the future or at least the present moment.  We accompany you on the journey knowing your desire is for us to walk with you, talk along the way, laugh and cry together, and celebrate our many arrivals.  Along the way we pick up hope, peace, joy, grace, and compassion.  When our greatest desire is you, our greatest triumphs are exquisite faith moments.

Thank you,
Kind God,
for wanting us
to be near you.
Thank you
for your invitation.
Teach us
to want you first.

Love always, Andrea
