Dear God,

Many days we do not have to look hard to discover you in ordinary living.  A baby's smile can elicit a praise from our lips.  A sunrise, an unexpected grace, or good health can keep us singing.  But on hard days we often get focused on the downturn, a harsh reality, or what appears to be a hopeless situation.  We fail to see your hand because we do not look for it.

But on those days when in the midst of sorrow and pain, you come on a wave, we witness your presence in our otherwise ordinary day.  We recognize you and call on your name.  We see your mercy; we feel it and step inside it.  We know that we know you have touched us.

The truth is you are always with us.  You make each ordinary day into an extraordinary one.  You paint the canvas and give us opportunity to look and see and to know you.  You show us your remarkable grace.  At once we can see the underlying beauty, those things that were hidden from view, not because you did not show them to us, but because our minds, so full of other things, failed to see adequately.

On this day I saw your amazing artwork!

that come daily.

for turning

into extraordinary ones.
Keep us close
to you
so we
can live
every day
giving thanks.
