Dear God,

Forgiveness is sweet.  There is nothing like forgiveness, that sweet mercy that erases the sting of sin, guilt, and sorrow.  Forgiveness gets rid of the nasty debris lodged in our souls.

Forgiveness offers clean air to breathe, so clean no dirt can possibly enter.  It aids in healing, renewal, restoration, reconciliation, and wholeness.  Forgiveness makes a new life possible.

Sometimes like today I think about your mercy that offers forgiveness and a new beginning.  I think of times when forgiveness has come to me like a cool summer rain on a hot dusty day.  I remember times when you asked me to forgive someone who has hurt me.  Ridding myself of a grudge or resentment or bitterness has offered me back a clean space in my own soul where joy and peace has a chance to thrive once again.  When I count my blessings, I always count forgiveness as one of the greatest.

for cleansing us within,
and for
helping us
make a
new start.
Thank you
for your
kind compassion
that heals
our wounds.
Thank you
for love
that winds itself
around us
like a
lover's embrace.
