Dear God,
While we consider ourselves, you remind us of others. While pausing at a red light, I looked up and saw a striking pink sky, the signs of an early morning sunrise. What a beautiful sky, I said to myself, another day filled with hope. Then you said, It is another frightening day for many.
Often I take for granted a morning sunrise giving thanks as the sun creeps its way upward in our fairly quiet town. I take for granted clean water coming from the faucets, heat rising from the furnace, fresh food in the frig, valuable medicine in the cupboard, and a safe car to transport me wherever I want to go. Life is good as I offer up my prayers of thanksgiving.
In many parts of the world as well as my own country, life is not good. There is fear, loss, confusion, doubt, and hopelessness. There is trouble and conflict. Another day means another round of difficulty. The future looks bleak and dark.
You continually call to my mind the need to care for others, to pray, and to give.
Thank you,
Holy Father,
for lifting up
your family,
keeping in mind
all your children.
Bless all
with your compassion,
mercy, love,
hope, faith,
and peace.
Use me,
O Lord,
I pray.
Love, Andrea
