Dear God,
Oh to be like the leaves who form, bud and unfurl at the appointed time and then later fall to begin the process all over again. Autumn is always the time when we relearn the life lesson of surrender. When we follow your appointed plan for our lives, we too come to life, display the gift of life, and then let go. Oh to be like the leaves!
Every season brings life lessons about faith, O Most High. There is probably no greater lesson than the one of surrender. When we hold on too tight, we fail to rid ourselves of that which keeps us from growing. When we surrender ourselves into your hands, we gain, grow, and release so you can do your best work in us. The act of surrender is a faith-filled act.
We need to be reminded how rewarding, beneficial and beautiful it is to follow your will, to listen and to trust. You can not fill us up when we are too filled up with other things. You can only dwell within us when we let go of that which keeps you from us. When you do fill us with yourself and we release control into your hands, we are able to experience the fullness of joy and gladness!
Be our guide,
Holy Father;
show us
the way
to surrender
to your will.
Hold us fast
to your side
so we
may remain close.
Thank you
for Autumn,
for life lessons,
and for challenges
that grow us
in faith
and joy.
Love always, Andrea
