Dear God,
In the every day pilgrim journey search for faith and signs of your living presence, sometimes I miss the small but significant gifts of your spirit. When I only look for great wonders, I walk right by so many other manifestations of your light shining in the world.
On this day I stumbled upon rest, the kind of quiet calm provided when we lie down to sleep. You bless us greatly when we close our eyes, trust in you, and sleep hours awaking rested from head to foot. The restoration that comes infuses us with new energy, clear minds, and a rejuvenation enabling us to live hopefully, make decisions, and have abilities to do the work of living every day. Good rest gives us the "ahhhhh" moment to smile, feel good, and be glad.
God of Simple Pleasures,
thank you
for wondrous gifts
from your hand.
Thank you
for rest
that is
life-giving.
Thank you
for blessings,
big and small.
Love, Andrea
