Dear God,

You call us close.  You invite us in.  You lead us to cool water and green pastures.  There we dwell in your living presence sharing together as old friends.

What are we if not old friends?  Those who walk in each other's presence know one another.  They not only talk but share a relationship so deep, so beautiful, and so inspiring.

When we pause from our daily distractions and reflect upon this relationship, we find so many ways to give thanks, to be bewildered all over again for one who loves so much.  When we think back of the countless encounters, we remember tender mercies, sweet reminders of faith come to life, fear turned to courage, and sorrow transformed into strength.  We welcome the life we live with you, Compassionate God, and our hearts are filled with gratitude and so much love.

Your dwelling place
is like
no other.
Thank you
for the gift
of relationship,
for kindnesses unimaginable,
for cool water
and green pastures,
and for
flowing fountains
of gracious love.
