Dear God,

Disappointments are simply opportunities to consider God's will in our lives.  Some disappointments are small but others can be really big like broken promises, failure to follow through, and lost chances.  Moments like these can help us reconsider our expectations to see how they line up with God's will in our lives.  Over time we can see the ways you worked in our lives to challenge us, help us, and cause us to grow in faith.

Some times we get so invested in something we want, we fail to consider what you might want for us in a particular situation.  We may move forward not even praying or consulting you.  We may wind up in hot water because we didn't count the cost of a decision without you.

The more we draw close to you, the more we want what you want, and the more we wait and listen, the more we will line up with your will for our lives.  That will bring us more hope, faith, trust, joy, and peace.

Gracious God,
woo us
to your side.
Make us
your own.
Teach us
to desire you
and your will,
I pray.
