Dear God,

The light shines.  Even when it is turned off, we remember it.

Sometimes our personal worlds turn dark and foreboding.  We look around and all we see is darkness.  If we look no further, we languish for however long it takes...until we remember the light shining.  Only then can we find the courage, strength and power to step back into the light that will guide us into the future.

This truth came to me this morning as I looked out onto the dark morning and saw a back porch light shining.  When I closed my eyes I could still see the light because I remembered it.  Your light is like that, O Lord.  When we see your light and recognize it for what it is, we can always remember it and allow the remembering to hold us until the dark storm passes.
