Dear God,

"I lift my eyes to the hills.  Where does my help come from?  It comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth."  The psalmist's words are always a call to look to you.  When things are stirring up in our souls, when doubt enters and fear and anxiety and pain, that is the time to pause and reflect.  Where can I turn?  I ask myself.  Always, always the answer is to you, Lord, to you.  I lift up my eyes to you.

When I reflect on the past, I realize it was really when I looked up into your eyes that I found my hope and my peace.  Each time I tried to go it alone, I failed.  I mucked up an already difficult situation but when I looked to you, my breathing slowed, my mind quieted and the way cleared.  Today as I consider many moments in my life where confusion reigned, I celebrate once again for the ability and desire to lift my eyes to the hills.

Blessed God,
thank you
for the gift
of your presence.
Thank you
for reminding us
through memory
how present
you really are.
You never
abandon us
in our difficulty.
You allow us
to find you.

Love, Andrea
