Dear God,

This morning I rose from my bed at 3:50 a.m.  It was still muggy inside and outside my home because I had no air conditioning but I had two bushels of peaches that needed canning so I rushed to the kitchen to get started.  Each time I filled a jar, four halves in a wide-mouth pint jar and eight halves in a wide-mouth quart jar, I thought of your goodness.  I thought of how you take a couple of just-right peach plants and create within them the potential for luscious fruit, first little leaves, then blossoms and then round yellow and coral peaches.  The color is so beautiful, the taste so exquisite and the filled jar a true wonderment.

Thank you,
O God,
for the gift
of wonderful fruit.
Thank you
for the process
of canning
that allows sunshine
in the midst
of the
cold winter.
Thank you
for your presence
in my kitchen
this morning.

Love, Andrea
