Dear God,

Who is greater to open our eyes to first thing in the morning than you?  To awaken to the presence of our creator, redeemer and friend offers immeasurable joy.

This morning as I listened to Bruce Davis speak about silence in his book, Monastery without Walls, I could see the well marked path to you created over many years through earnest prayer.  I saw the people for whom I prayed, not just my own beloved family but strangers, countries, leaders, so many hurting people and I knew again the value of prayer.  You draw a circle and pull us all in.  All are invited into your circle, O Lord.  All are loved, none rejected.

Holy God,
thank you
for all
your gifts
especially prayer.
Thank you
for close moments
with you
and each other.
Thank you
for the blessing
of prayer.
