Dearest God,

We don't always get what we want in relationships.  We may want family to draw closer but it is not always possible.  Yet, you come to us making offerings that bless us so very, very much.

You make the little things big.  Little overtures can swell inside us creating mercy and love where only sorrow and sadness lived.  You bless your dwelling place within us, filling us with your own loving friendship.  You make us glad for what we have and show us the way to trust you for all things.

I witnessed this tonight when after a few weeks of no communication, a smile came my way.  You would have thought many blessings had been given to me.  They had because your power can make all things great and good.

Teach us
to look
to you
for our needs,
O Lord.
Show us
how to
be patient
and trusting.
Create in us
the ability
and desire
to give thanks
for all things.
