My dearest God,
What a joyous moment! I have worried with many others about the Monarch butterfly. An endangered species now, I can only remember the countless butterflies when I was a little girl. Now I can go a whole summer and not see one.
This year unexpectedly several milkweed plants sowed themselves in my vegetable and flower beds. Out of place and yet exactly where they needed to be they rose up out of the ground, grew tall, blossomed and a few days ago I saw it...a yellow and black striped caterpillar eating away at the milkweed leaves. I shouted for my husband to come see. Together we breathed out our joy giving thanks about the time a Monarch fluttered by.
Joy abounds
when we discover
your hand
at work.
Thank you,
Loving God,
for the gift
of the butterfly.
So beautiful,
so graceful,
so wondrous,
so exceptional,
so You.
Love, Andrea
