Dear God,

Why do we hurt one another?  Why do we think the world needs to revolve around our beliefs, our understandings and our ways of doing things?  Why do we function as if we are God?

Daily more and more is said about our conflicts, division and fights in our country.  Wherever we stand, whatever we think and whatever we feel gets snagged and we react.  Too many times we respond negatively allowing our emotions to run away with us.  Irritation turns into resentment and resentment into bitterness.  For some bitterness escalates into negative or violent acts.  People get hurt, anger grows and the world changes, sadly, tragically.

Help us,
O Lord,
we need
your help.
Guide us
toward love,
mercy and
peace-filled actions.
Show us
the way
to true peace.
