Dear God,

I heard your whisper to rest, rest from my labor, rest from my worry and anxiety, rest from my fear, rest from my own expectations and needs and rest from all that threatens on the horizon.  And I was too tired to fight.  All day I rested in your care.  I slept off and on all day.  It was your kind of rest, the rest that breathes peace, relaxation and serenity.  Yours is the best kind of rest.

If we begin with you each morning, if we listen for your voice, if we lay down our burdens first thing, if we inquire about your will for our life and if we attend to the vessel of flesh, body, mind, spirit and soul, then we will begin with all we need for our day.  You can rejuvenate, refresh and renew us for what lay ahead.  If not, we push the proverbial boulder uphill all day long.  By nightfall we are so weary and filled up with new concerns, temptations, trials, resentments and more.  Rest can be hard to find and experience.  But with you, we hear the song of hope, love and mercy as our eyes close and our whole self rests in peace.

Help us
find our way,
O Lord.
Help us
trust you more.
Teach us
the lessons
of rest
and peace.

Love, Andrea
