Dear God,

A dark night of the soul...worry, anxiety and fear plagued me at 1:00 a.m. this morning.  Why not?  With a nation in chaos and a family member in psychological and emotional turmoil, it was enough to wake me up and keep me awake.  Or is there another way to consider it?

Perhaps you awakened me, O Lord, perhaps, you called me to pray, to give up my anxious state and spend time with you, giving myself over to your loving care and tending to the needs of others.  It is what you do, isn't it?  If we trust you in all things, all things, we can depend on you to listen, to act and to reach out.
What could have been a time of restlessness, irritation and deficiency turned out to be an affirming, productive, tender, insightful and prayerful time woven with gratitude, peace and joy.  But this is what you do, Gracious, Loving and Merciful God.  We can depend on you every time not only to care for us but also for us to care for others.

Dark nights
are not dark
to you,
Mighty God.
They are simply
intimate, high
and holy moments
alone with you.
They are
teaching moments,
quiet moments,
loving moments.
Thank you.

Love, Andrea
