Dear God,

Every day is a new day, not an old day to be relived again.  A new day means a new beginning, a fresh new start.  A new day is full of opportunity and possibility.  A new day means I can open myself to receive and to give to others on a new day.  I can walk through the new day with joy and hope and peace.  I can give light and receive it.  I can be a beacon of light for others or I can bask in the light all day long.  On a new day I can see with clear eyes, hear with open ears and taste and savor all that is around me.  Yes, a new day is just that...new.

Or I can relive yesterday or last week or last month.  I can carry every bit of my baggage into the new day.  I can rehash my last argument, get angry because I did not get what I wanted on one of my yesterdays or push my weight around to force others to my way of thinking.  I can complain, feel broken or hide away on the new day.  I have the choice.

Holy God,

thank you 

for this

new day.

Thank you

for every opportunity

to savor life.

Help me

see light today,

dear God;

make me

a beacon

of light

for others,

I pray.
