Dear God,
So much is crumbling in society today. Our churches seem to be falling apart. Our nation is coming apart at the seams. Our world is in chaos. What do we do? Where do we turn? Will we simply keep falling without even as much as a safety net to catch us?
Many of us wonder about this, Lord. We fear, are anxious and restless. We are quick to get angry. We blame others. We can't see our way clear. But this is when we pause and take stock in what we have right now.
When all seems to be spiraling downward, we know that we know there is a place, a person, a resting place where we can fall that will not only catch us but hold us. There is a steady foundation, one that is rock solid that will not crack or break, one that can rescue not just one of us but all of us.
This foundation is the sacred divine. It is a place that was present even before creation. It has always existed and was the cornerstone upon which creation was created. It is love, love, love that catches us, love that holds us, love that remains no matter the storms. This Love is the sacred divine. It is you, Almighty and Most Compassionate God; it is you. We can fall into you and you will reach out for us.
On dark days we can rest, dwell in this knowledge. When we can't reach for anyone or anything else, we can reach out for you and you will...
Loving God,
return us
to your heart
so we
might recognize you
during dark
and anxious days.
Open our
whole selves
to your
saving grace.
Teach us again
to trust you.
Love, Andrea
