Dear God,

How do we listen to the deepest darkness of the soul when someone shares it?  How can we truly help change their situation when they have done all they can do?

I had to do this today.  I felt such loss as I heard the anguish.  I wanted to change everything making healing possible.  While the light is what still keeps the person alive, yet, it appears the darkness is so wide and deep that the light does not seem enough.  Oh, Lord, what do I do to help persons with such pain?

You are

the light

of the world,

O God,

shine your light

I pray.

Direct it

into the lives

of those

whose darkness

is deep.

Eradicate darkness

that steals

the light,

I pray.
