Dear God,

This morning as I prayed during my devotional time, I heard a familiar sound I have not heard for nearly 40 years.  It was the sound of a bird, the kind that seems to love living on a farm.  I wondered how it was that he was here in a residential neighborhood.

Of course, it was a gift from on high!  With my tender heart right now, you sent me the sweet sound of memory from my grandmother's farm, the woman I loved most in all the world, Grandma Hughes.  A symbol of love, compassion and faith, she warmed my heart, modeled faith and taught me by example many life lessons.  I will walk with this gift all day today and maybe even tomorrow.

You are

the God

of gifts,

surprises and love,

Living Lord.

Thank you

to me today.
