Dear God,

It rained all day today, all day.  I couldn't get outside to weed, rake and clean up.  I thought of all those things I couldn't get to because of the weather.  Tomorrow is supposed to be very hot and I think of what I won't be able to do then either.

What persuades us to be so demanding, so disappointed when things don't go our way?  What causes us to wish for something different?  Why can't we simply live in the present moment and think of what we do have in the midst of what we don't?

Teach us

your way,

O God.

Help us

be content

while waiting

for our lives

to change

and grow.

Be our guide,

Holy One.

Who knows better

what we need?
