Dear God,

Wars make our news every day.  Around the world millions are suffering.  Many are dying from starvation, violence and greed.  How and why do we continue to hurt one another?

I simply do not understand why legislators choose to feed their own greed and power instead of serving the people of the nation and world.  What makes the heart tick selfishness?  Why do power and greed carry such weight in the human mind, heart and soul?  Why are we such a broken people with such great lack of compassion and mercy?

There is

no doubt

we are

a broken people,

O God.

We have 

followed our

own will

and way.

We have

left the poor

and suffering

in our wake.

Cleanse our minds,

hearts and souls,

we pray

so we

may find

our way,

your way,

once again.
