Dear God,

What is prayer but an opening to your heart?  When we pray, we acknowledge that we do not have the answers, the help or the hope we are longing for ourselves or for someone else.  In a posture of prayer, we connect with you, O God, or you connect with us for a time of honesty, pleading and closeness.  By praying we recognize our need for you.  We come to you in prayer because we know there is no one greater to whom we can join to lay out our burdens and know we are heard.

Prayer is a time of sweet mercy.  We can sing or dance our prayer.  We can cry, laugh or beg.  We can speak and also listen.  We can find, discover, learn, help and breathe in a time of prayer.  It is not just a matter of lifting our needs or the needs of others, it is a time to dwell, really dwell in hope, love and faith with our redeemer, comforter, friend, teacher and companion.  Is there any time sweeter?

Holy God,
thank you
for dwelling times.
Thank you
for prayer
that opens doors
and windows
to our heart.
Thank you
for living presence,
yours and ours.

Love, Andrea
