Dear God,
I begin every morning early while it is still dark outside. I plug in my mantle and tree lights. I sit in the rocking chair gazing upon its beauty, quietly giving thanks. No matter what direction I look, the tree reflects on the windows and into our study. It looks like we have at least four lighted trees out onto our patio. What loveliness I receive every morning!
Winter is a spectacular time of surprises, mystery and hiddenness. Daily if we are attentive, we will discover special gifts waiting to be found. Animal tracks on the fresh new snow, colorful birds feasting on the red berries outside the study window and the aromas of winter scents like balsam, hot chocolate and burning fires in the fireplace refresh our spirit and create smiles on cold, wintry days. And to imagine these are just a few of the wondrous gifts that come from your hand.
Today I am giving thanks for the rabbit that hopped across the patio, Christmas lights still glowing inside and outside our house and the neighborhood and for my long, fluffy blue robe I am wearing in the cold, cold study as I write. Yes, indeed treasures just waiting.
Thank you,
Holy God,
for the
joyous gifts
for today.
Thank you
for divine love
that awakened us
this morning
and will
be present
with us
all day long.
No one gives
like you!
Yours, Andrea
