Dear God,
Very early this morning as I drove to the pharmacy to pick up a Covid test for my daughter, I noticed a number of homes and apartments that had strings of lights glowing around their patios. Since it is no longer Christmas or New Year's I reflected upon why they still had lights up. Although they could be just another way to beautify their outdoor area, perhaps it is because they need the light.
In our world today we all need the light because we know the darkness. And what is the light and what does it offer? I believe the light is a divine resource that provides beauty, warmth, comfort, peace and hope, even joy. We look to the light to give us something we can't quite make for ourselves. While electricity and a light bulb can give us light, only you can give us real Light.
Loving God,
we need
more light
than we
can turn on.
Thank you
for giving us
the light
and for
being the light.
We offer you
our prayers
of thanksgiving.
Yours, Andrea
