My dearest God,

I don't know why some people receive a miracle and others do not. Yet, when a miracle happens, it unearths something in all of us.

A world sat waiting for the first miner to rise to the surface. When he stepped out of his ride home, we all cheered, cried and gave thanks. Harold and I had tears spilling down our faces as we remained glued to the television.

What is it you hope for when you provide a miracle? More faith? More love, mercy and compassion? More openness to one another? What?

As several of the men fell to their knees to pray, obviously something was stirring inside. What was it, Lord, and was it what you hoped for? Do miracles change us, give us opportunity to live differently, to see from an alternate view, make us want to unite with a stranger in his or her new world, what? Do you want us to see possibility where none exists and then act upon it by faith?

This miracle in Chile touched us today. What can we give you in return?

Thank you,
Mighty God,
for releasing
33 men
from their tomb!
Let your light
be their light.
Let your love
be their love.
Let your mercy
be their mercy.
Revive in
us all
the desire
to love
our neighbor,
to believe,
and to
practice our faith
in ways
that make
a difference.

Gratefully, Andrea
