Dear God,

How can we add more hope, peace, and joy to the world?  How do we become a fountain of living water for others?

As I reflect back over the course of my 65 years, names and faces come to mind, people who were fountains for me, Grandma Hughes, Miss Stewart, Mrs. Kintzel, Sister Jeanne Marie, Sister Eugenia, the Widlers, Linda Warner, Florence Burcham, Robbie McCord, and Jason Hester, just to name a few.  These men and women have allowed their fountains to spill over to me.  Their life-giving water brought me hope, peace, and joy.

Make me
a fountain
of living water
for others,
dear God.
Let me flow
in ceaseless praise
for you.
Let me bring
water to
the thirsty
and food
to the hungry.
Make me
an instrument
of your grace.
Fill me
to overflowing
so that
I will
help nourish others,
I pray.
