Dear God,

How deep must grace go to reach a blocked heart?  How can it penetrate a dark soul unwilling to change?

When you look across the cosmos, what do you see?  I mean, what do you look at when you observe humans scurrying around the planet?  Do you just see our visible bodies at work, at play, or whatever?  Or do you watch and listen, examining the human soul, taking in our thoughts and longings?  Do you see our scars, our fears, our bitterness, our distress?  How do you encourage us to surrender these to you?  How do you motivate us to see life from your perspective?

A person recently injured two people that I love.  Her cruel words hurt deep.  In a series of hits throughout the years she has maimed, wounded, and cut.  She has said she has the right because it is "truth" and they deserve it.  Although it is difficult to find a scripture that supports her behavior, she feels righteous in doing harming these two over and over again. What will it take to stop the pain?

Good God,
full of
loving grace
and kind compassion,
how do
we reach
the hurting heart?
How do
we help others
find the
oil of gladness,
the joy
of heaven
that comes
when grace abounds?
Teach us
your way
I pray,
O Lord.

Love, Andrea
