Dear God,

You constantly point us to your service of love in the world.  Early this morning I picked black raspberries in my neighbor's and my patch.  The beautiful plumb berries reminded me of your gift of growth.  How could the plant rise up from the soil and produce such a lovely crop without your hand on creation?

A little later my neighbor joined me in my kitchen as together we prepared and preserved the berries for black raspberry jam.  Afterwards as we sat in the dining room enjoying hot jam on our breakfast toast, we talked about the wonders of faith.  I realized this coming winter when I lift a jar from the basement shelf, I will again remember you and your incredible gift of grace.

You keep
in touch,
Loving Lord.
You use
the natural world
to speak powerfully
to us.
You ask only
that we remain
in the conversation.
Thank you
for the gifts
of berries,
friendship,
and faith.

Love, Andrea
