Dear God,
I believe nature is intended to teach us spiritual lessons. Early this morning as I carried a bowl of freshly-picked black raspberries I noticed the yellow orange day lilies in my flower garden. The 100 or so flowers were all leaning to the east to capture the sun's rays. As I paused to reflect I realized how important the sun is to the flowers. Each morning they reach to heaven considering their link to the divine. Without the sun they would not even break ground, let alone rise and bloom. They would not exist.
So it is with the human soul. How vital it is that we lean toward you, not just alone but as a community. We need your light to survive. We need your source of divine energy to live life meaningfully. We need the warmth of your love and grace. We need you.
As we reach toward the sacred light, we find the joy, hope, and peace we desire. We find rest and respite from the duties and responsibilities of life as well as the challenges of daily living. Content with the beauty of our common bond, we are freed up to contribute to the world, to our neighbor, to the stranger, and to those around us. Our souls are filled with goodness and delight.
Merciful God,
thank you
for the gifts
nature provides.
Thank you
for spiritual lessons
that help
give shape
to our
own spirits.
Always be
our teacher
and guide,
I pray.
Love, Andrea
