Dearest God,
Right now I am sitting at the kitchen table at my oldest daughter's home. I am looking through the big windows at her landscaped backyard where she worked hard planting flowers, a vegetable garden, shrubs and plants along the fence row. Everyone is asleep, my daughter, my son-in-law, my grandchildren, and Henny and Harley, the dogs. I am alone but full, so very full.
There was a time I could not imagine this gift. I could not envision this joy, this peace, this blessing. We were apart for so long, so very, very long. Then one day, the veil lifted, the door was opened, the invitation was made.
For the last two days my grandson and granddaughter and I have played Princess Cards. We've had a pillow fight. We've wrestled. We've gone to a movie and we've all been to the ball diamond watching Jack play baseball. We've eaten together, laughed together, teased together, played together, and even prayed together. I've spent time with my daughter and son-in-law talking, sharing, and laughing. And so as I prepare my things to leave, roll up my sleeping bag, gather my pillow, dirty clothes, my overnight bag stuffed with a week's worth of clothing, my medicine, computer, and purse, I am so full, so very full of gratitude.
Miracle-Working God,
thank you
for gifts
so great,
so wondrous,
so miraculous.
Thank you
for hope
that rises up
out of faith.
Thank you
for faith
that holds us
until the
right time comes.
Thank you
for mystical love
that springs
from your heart.
Thank you
for abundantly
blessing me.
Love, Andrea
