Dear God,
All is quiet after a heavy storm. The ground is wet, laden with Autumn leaves. The oriental grasses lay backward caused by driving rain. Yet, there is a sweet peace.
I am reminded of the storms of life that strike us unexpectedly. We are caught off guard. Our senses are heightened as we experience the shake, rattle, and roll of stormy winds all around us. We don't always know what to do or how to act. We can feel afraid, lost, and lonely. Without a strong footing, we often stumble and fall, hurting ourselves. Darkness can bring despair and we may lose our hope.
Yet, faith comes swiftly reminding us we are not alone. It gives us a different twist on our situation. It lovingly challenges us to walk into your waiting arms. It opens our ears to hear, our eyes to see. The light begins to shine over there and soon over here. Our pulses slow, our breathing too when the Almighty whispers, "Child."
Heavenly Father,
keep our eyes
on you.
Rebuild trust
in us
when we allow
the storms
to define us.
Reveal yourself
to your
frightened, doubtful children,
I pray.
Love, Andrea
