Dear God,
In the early morning hour I witnessed the mist rising over the neighbor's yard and I smiled. Call me silly or tell me I've seen too many movies but I picture you rising out of a mist, a sacred holy space where the air itself changes to make you more visible. I sense beauty and goodness rising together, a play on the invisible being made visible. I can't explain what I just said but inside my gut tells me you are present.
Pictures all day long, the ones that just appear in our own human screen, reveal yourself to us. If we have on the glasses of faith, we can see like a blind man sees after a transplant. Our minds are filled with wonder, our souls responding to heavenly gifts.
Sometimes we get too caught up in praying for something specific. If we don't get what we want in a timely manner, we are disappointed. We think you have failed us. But...we miss you in holy moments because we are too focused on one thing. We don't even notice the pictures of yourself all around us. We fail to notice.
I did not miss you this morning.
Gracious God,
so full
of love
to reveal yourself
to us,
thank you,
thank you
for the wonders
of faith.
Thank you
for touching us,
inspiring us
with awe
and grandeur.
Thank you
for every gift.
Love, Andrea
