Dear God,

You come to us in oh so many ways.  One of the most meaningful ways for me is through music.  You come alive filling me with inspiration, faith, and love.

At the Christmas concert at St. Luke's United Methodist Church last weekend, I listened as the youth chorale sang O Holy Night.  I know that song well.  I've heard it hundreds of times.  I've sung it hundreds of times.  What is new about a song when we hear it yet one more time?

You are new!  You are fresh!  You are birthed again in human history, in my own.  As I listen allowing the music to invade my own spirit, I find myself inside the music, the lyrics, the melody and harmony.  As the words move forward, I discover myself moving too, deeper and deeper and then suddenly I find myself in you.  I sense myself walking the halls of heaven visiting paradise, the source of Great Love and Hope.  As I wander tears well up within me because I know that I know that I know where I am and I feel humble and blessed.  When the song is over, I realize The song is still ringing in my ears, warming my heart, and stirring my soul.  I feel the call once again to follow the One to whom the song is sung.

Most Holy and Honorable God,
thank you
for being
the song.
Thank you
for singing it
to me
and to
the world.
Keep singing;
please do not
give up
on us.
Sometimes we
just can't
hear the song.
Sometimes we
don't understand it.
Sometimes we
don't want
to hear it
but don't
ever stop singing,
I pray.
We need
the song;
we need you.

Love, Andrea
