Dear God,

Awestruck, absolutely awestruck!  At Grandparents Day, my husband and I noticed a special needs boy in our granddaughter's classroom.  We both decided we wanted to do something to help.  I called my daughter and she called the teacher.  One thing led to another and before long several of us joined in the effort.  One lady, my friend's daughter, one I have watched grow up, offered her used car.  We had no idea the family needed a car but then we found out two months ago they had a car accident and then their van transmission went out.  Borrowing a car or driving the van 20 miles an hour to get the kids to school, we are working to get new brakes and a "once over" before making the gift.  The mother has had three surgeries in three months and is not able to work.  We are going to fill that car with gifts and we are excited about it.

You open our eyes to special needs all around us.  You whisper an invitation.  Sometimes we hear it and reject it.  Sometimes we are too busy and miss it altogether.  Sometimes we say yes when we recognize the offer.  Being part of your love in the world is the best!

O God,
open our eyes
to the
world's need.
Show us
how to care.
Lead the way.
Thank you
for the opportunity
to follow,
to serve,
and to love.

Love always, Andrea
